Straight out of the arid plains of the Copper State, Dashawn Jordan comes together with Nike SB for a serpentine Dunk Low Pro effort. The April Skateboards Pro has been waiting for the moment he could take Nike SB’s most iconic silhouette and make it his own, so when his collaboration was finally confirmed, Dashawn knew exactly what he was going to do.
Pulling references from all over his native Phoenix, the upper is dominated by faux snakeskin overlay panels, the design of which belongs to the Western diamondback rattlesnake, the first nod to Dashawn’s beloved Arizona Diamondbacks, marking 25 year since their World Series winning run. The snakeskin is interrupted by a black Swoosh with dark blue outlines on both sides, whilst underneath, smooth black suede underlays give the pattern the best chance to shine.
The references to the 2001 World Series champions don’t stop there, though, with the team’s iconic colour palette seen dotted around the shoes, including on the tongue, heel and lining. Adding to the thoughtful details on his homage to the AZ, a diamond-shaped snake sits on the inside tongue, and Dashawn Jordan-branded insoles with coiled snake graphics sit inside the shoe. The crowning detail of this already banging effort, an intricate fanged copper dubrae on the lower laces of each shoe.
Underfoot, it’s built with all the tech you would expect from a shoe in the SB Dunk lineup, including a padded low-cut collar for comfort, cushioned PU foam insole with Nike Zoom Air Heel insert, and a rubber outsole with the Dunk's classic tread for grip and durability. This is a shoe built for skateboarding, not hype. The attention to detail and skateboard-forward design blend perfectly with the love for his city, delivering a Dunk of MVP status.
