Throwing it all the way back to ’95, designer Sergio Lozano set the sneaker world spinning with the launch of the Air Max 95, inspired by human anatomy and the natural structures of the earth. Originally built to run, the shoe’s bold look was loved and hated in equal parts, quickly helping it transcend sport to become an iconic part of UK streetwear. Particularly embraced in Liverpool, the AM95 became deeply ingrained in Scouse street culture, earning its ‘110’ nickname from its original retail price.
Despite its running DNA, skaters soon identified the Air Max 95's skate-friendly features, including its chunky profile, Air Bubble support, and street-ready style. Nike SB’s Air Max 95 bridges the gap between Nike and its SB division, keeping the iconic look central to the design but integrating subtle updates to align it with modern skate tech.
Rebuilt from the ground up, the skeletal-inspired lines take centre stage, but the SB iteration pivots away from synthetic materials of the original to premium suede and leather for superior durability, reinforced by additional stitching for longevity. Making its skate debut in a fresh Summit White and Cactus colourway, the SB 95 features reflective accents, gradient panels that erode from one to the next, and subtle branding hits on the heel, tongue, and TPU shank.
Traditionally a higher-sitting shoe, the SB edition of the 95 trims weight and adjusts both insole and tread for enhanced boardfeel and flexibility, sitting you effectively ON the iconic Air Bubble, whilst adding herringbone lugs for increased traction on the gum outsole. It's the 95, rebuilt for a new era.
