Product Description

Protruding from the coastal peninsula of Palos Verdes, Crenshaw Boulevard meanders northward for 23 miles before it intersects the infamous 16-mile strip of Wilshire Boulevard. Nestled in the joint between the two lies “the ‘Shaw”, the Crenshaw District of South LA, a multicultural suburban setting defined by its bungalows and low-rise apartment blocks. Despite its sleepy architecture, Crenshaw is anything but; these unassuming neighbourhoods have a history for forging some of hip-hops most influential: Nipsey Hustle, Ice Cube, Ice T, Kurupt, Skee-Lo and more grew up here, but Crenshaw is perhaps best-known outside of Los Angeles for its portrayal in the 1991 film Boyz n the Hood.

Crenshaw shines bright with community spirit; Crenshaw has become something of a brand in itself, with its own typeface and clothing line worn proudly by residents of the area. In the same vein of local pride and representation, Tobias McIntosh founded Crenshaw Skate Club, a skateboarding company designed to represent those who feel underrepresented by the skate industry, beginning at Crenshaw and reaching out to the world. With its resonating message, CSC has been steadily gaining traction since 2017, accumulating collaborations with the likes of Lacoste, The Hundreds, Browns and more, and their latest linkup sees them offered the illustrious Nike SB seal of approval - a custom Crenshaw Skate Club Dunk Low colourway.

Drawing inspiration from Crenshaw’s colourful urban furniture and the red and green of the iconic Crenshaw Square street sign (as seen in Tupac’s To Live & Die in L.A.), the shoe’s upper has a distinctively scratchy aesthetic, with skate-away crackled leather layering counterbalanced by creamy Cedar suede panelling. Just as the painted greens of Crenshaw’s concrete landscape stretch from the Jim Gilliam batting cage bleacher ledges in the west of the neighbourhood to the walls of the Montgomery Auditorium 10-stair to the north, the green theme of the CSC Dunk delves inside the collar of the shoe and flavours the labelling. Light Blue hues in the Swoosh elevate the shoe’s softness, whilst subtle CSC detailing makes an appearance in the form of custom embroidery at the heels, in the translucent outsole and custom printed insoles.

Please note: This shoe is excluded from all discounts and promotions.  Any order placed with a discount will be removed from the raffle draw.
